Working Internationally - Client
Working internationally utilising Freelancers, is best managed by those Services Providers and Agents who have an established international track record and have a support presence in the countries that your wish to operate in.
Alternatively this may be done by finding a Local Partner(s) to manage this for you but this has its own issues and challenges to solve.
International Service Providers & Agencies will normally provide the following services:-
Service Providers
- International Freelancer Taxation ( thought a Limited Company, their Pay Roll Service or Direct Employment),
- Manage Double Taxation Treaties so as not to disadvantage Freelancers and loss their services,
- Tax clearance in their country of domicile if this is applicable,
- Payment of local Taxes and ensure Freelancers get tax credit in country of domicile if appropriate,
- Assist Freelancers to manage all their tax, finance and administration issues
- Assist with Local Partner identification,
- Assist with Work Permits/Visas.
Agents
- Post your job specification to their network of freelancers and associated databases,
- Search and selection for Freelance candidates,
- Assist/Provision of Work Permits/Visas,
- Local in country support inclusive of meet and greet, accommodation and transportation,
- Payment of local Taxes.
Our experience and Feedback from Clients/Agents and Freelancers is that for international working, the hard work putting the deal in place, mobilising and bedding down the Freelancer is quite easily undone within the first four to eight weeks on issues such as:-
- Local Taxation not been taken into account,
- Domicile taxation not addressed before departure,
- Medical, Travel and other insurances,
- Banking problems and late payments due to transfer issue.
It is recommended that both an experienced Services Provider and Agent work in partnership to ensure that Freelancers are both stabilised in this transition period and are provided with a comprehensive service to ensure work force leakage is kept to a minimum.
